A KICKSTART FOR THE ECONOMY

With Lockdown back and many businesses thrown into uncertainty, help and support is vital to keep the economy going. Unemployment in Ashford is rising and initiatives that help employment and Small Businesses are welcome. 

 

Almost 97% of Kent business is in the SME and micro business range with 0 – 30 employees. We welcome the Government Kickstart scheme that aims to support 18- 24 year olds back into work by paying their wages National insurance and pension contributions for any business that takes a new recruit. The scheme however, requires that the business employs a minimum of 30, and so the Federation of small Business and the Chamber of Commerce, have created schemes that by pooling, enable every business to take part in the scheme, and to qualify for a £1500 bonus per placement.
