Training Residents to be Lifesavers!
The first of three community CPR training events took place at Gerlach House, during the evening of Thursday 26th February. The event, open to all, hosted 10 Kennington residents, some of whom had also attended the Self Defence Training organised last year.
James Lang, Kent Fire and Rescue, delivered the training in a fun and interactive way, focusing on practical life-saving skills and building confidence.
He demonstrated CPR on adult, child and infant models before trainees were given the opportunity to practice procedures and techniques. Several different defibrillator models were also demonstrated.
The training stressed the need to
· Recognise cardiac arrest quickly
· Call 999 immediately
· Start chest compressions right away
· Use an AED as soon as possible and
· Not to be afraid to act
