QZQZWhat a great litter pick we had today. Thanks to all the volunteers who turned out we covered Bockhanger Square and park, down through the Rylands Road play area then onto Canterbury Road and back all the way up Bybrook Road.
It started quite slowly but that was because we had moved the meeting point from Phoenix School. As we were setting up in the car park by the shops, first a resident found us and then a gentleman from the International Hotel whose son is at the school came across. As we looked, it was like the scene from Field of Dreams and another 9 volunteers came out of the school entrance behind him.
All of our volunteers were enthusiastic and diligent. If you looked out of the window and saw someone in a high viz jacket leaning over into your garden with a litter picker, that was us! We met back at the car park where Ashford Borough Council had sent a small truck to take our bags of rubbish so they were not left by the bin. ABC’s knife bin on the wall also came in useful for the serrated kitchen knife found along Canterbury Road.
