Pirate canoe club 

 

The Council has made the first payment on a grant towards the cost introducing Stand-Up Paddleboards into the Pirates Canoe Club at Conningbrook Lake. The grant will go towards the purchase of boards, training for instructors and safety equipment. 

 

The original decision to award the grant was made back in December 2020, before the COVID pandemic disrupted the Club’s plans. 

 

The second tranche of the grant is designated for the acquisition and installation of a storage container at the Club’s lakeside facility. This is dependent on approvals from the Borough Council, which the Club hopes to get soon. 

 

As well as stand-up paddleboards, the Club engages in canoeing and kayaking. Membership of Pirates Canoe Club is open to Kennington residents and anyone interested in joining should see details at https://piratescanoeclub.com/join
