Kennington Community Council is deeply disappointed that Kent County Council have rejected our application to register land at The Pasture as a Town Green.

At a meeting of the County Council's Regulation Committee Member Panel held yesterday (20 September), the Panel received a report from the County Council's officers which recommended that "the application did not meet the legal tests for registration as a Village Green under section 15 of the Commons Act 2006".

Councillors Diccon Spain and Chris Morley representing the Community Council and Councillor Bartlett as County Councillor for the area spoke in support of the application. The Landowner's legal team were allowed to speak to highlight their objections. A Panel Member's proposal that a decision should be deferred until they had visited the site was not supported by the other Members, and the Panel voted by a majority of four to one to reject our application.

The County Council have advised that the matter is now closed and no further action will be taken by the County Council.
